Ko was going a little wild with the new upgraded sensory immersion options. It was dusk, on the savannah, a broad sky purpling above Af and Ko. An analytical corner of Af’s brain calculated the nu-values of the changing light.  The two of them were in a clearing, by a watering hole. A fire blazed behind them, the smoke tingled Af’s nostrils . On the the far side a pair of ibex watched warily, like wizen-faced gnomes.

Ko was gnawing on grilled gnu. That was an iota too far for Af; they had swapped theirs out for a plate of gnocchi. They slapped at a gnat. The sims were pushing into uncharted virgin frontiers of verisimilitude, not always for the best.

Ko grinning, brimming with chi energy, extended a skewer with a hunk of meat on it.

Af sighed. They really should be united in their experience; they should give the strange food a beta test, at least  “Fine.”

“That’s the spirit,” Ko said.

It was much tastier than Af expected; the woodsmoke added some mysterious delta to the equation.

Ko intently watched Af’s lips pull into an involuntary smile. “I knew you’d like it.”
